PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-protocol blood processing apparatus and a disposable unit used for it wherein safety of a blood donor is secured. SOLUTION: A disposable unit is usually provided with a centrifugal bowl for separating the whole blood into blood components, an inlet tube for carrying the blood to the bowl, an outlet tube for carrying out the blood components from the bowl and a manifold through which a fluid is communicated among the inlet tube, the outlet tube and a tube from a donor. The manifold is provided with a mechanically readable barcode label and makes a blood processing apparatus distinguish which type of the disposable unit is mounted. The apparatus itself is provided with a central processing apparatus 610 for controlling the whole processing, the first computor memory 650 contg. safety monitoring command for making the central processing apparatus monitor various condition parameters for securing safety of the donor and the second computor memory 172 contg. command for providing at least one apheresis or blood processing protocol. The second computor memory is removable on the blood processing apparatus by an operator. |
