1285076 Milling cutters WELDON TOOL CO 14 Oct 1969 [8 May 1969] 50380/69 Heading B3K A rotary cutting tool blank has a set of flutes the front face of each of which is of undulating form providing a series of recess and forwardly disposed points along this face, the land surface 58, Fig. 9, between the leading and trailing faces of the flute being of part cylindrical form of uniform radius around the axis of the blank. This surface may be ground at a uniform relief angle so as to provide cutting edges, Fig. 4, having high points 53 and low points 51. Alternatively the flute may be so ground, Fig. 1, that the cutting edge is of constant height whether at the forward points 73 or at the recesses 71. The invention is described in relation to an end mill 20, Fig. 1, having four flutes, the forward points and recesses of one flute being staggered in relation to the next. |
