Vacuum flotation plant comprises a vacuum tank with a sloping widening floor insert over which the suspension is passed, the level being regulated by taps in the system. The solid particles are pulled upwards by the bubbles formed by the dissolved air on exposure of the solution to vacuum and are removed from the surface by wiper blades working at 90 degrees relative to the direction of flow of the liquid, each blades transferring the foam from the pockets in the side of the tank into separate tanks for the various fractions. Both the tanks and the receiving tanks are connected to a vacuum pump.
