Title cpds. of formula R(-O-C-NH-NH2)x (where R is haloalkyl or is opt. substd. aryl which can also be linked with heterocyclic residues and can contain bridge members and x is 1,2, or 3), which are intermediates in heterocyclic syntheses and plant-protection agents are prepd. by reacting R(OCN)x with N2H4 or salt in a molar ratio of N2H4 to OCN groups of 1:1 at 100 degrees C to 40 degrees C; the product may be isolated in the form of its salt with a mineral acid.
