1531857 Straightening partitions EMHART INDUSTRIES Inc 17 Nov 1976 [18 June 1976] 47898/76 Heading B8C Apparatus for straightening cell-forming partitions in a carton comprises means 6 for conveying cartons to and away from a carton support 15, a stop (10) for stopping the carton on the support, a mandrel 13 disposed above the support, and mounting a plurality of cones 74, 76, at least one of the cones 74 being longer than the others, and means for moving the mandrel so that the cones enter the cells in a carton on the support 15. The mandrel is supported on sleeves 21, 23 slidable along shafts 20, 22 by an air motor (36). The height of the shafts and thus the mandrel is adjusted by pinion shaft 28 and racks 24, 26. If the cones encounter excessive resistance a cone supporting plate 70 lifts contacts 75 off switches 66, 68. The mandrel is adjustably mounted on guide rods 42, 44. The support or plate 15 may be vibrated by a vibrator 64. Alternatively the mandrel may be vibrated. The longer cones 74 may enter an inner cell in the carton. |
