The changer of measuring probe or sample collector is used in steel melting. The probe is lifted by holding tube into replacing position after immersion into molten steel. Changing of probe is carried out automatically withoutover loading the holding tube. In the changing position the horizontal position coordinates of the probe of the holding tube are evaluated by a scanner in relation to specified reference position in the horizontal plane. The probe grab is actuated in relation to these position coordinates and carries out the decoupling or coupling operation between the holding tube and the probe.
