CATALYST FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To compensate each defect whom a ceria deposited by a powder depositing method and an impregnating depositing method has and to allow to maximally exhibit an oxygen storage effect to improve a hydrocarbon/carbon monoxide/nitrogen oxide-removing activity. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst is composed of a porous carrier, the ceria formed by applying and firing a slurry containing a ceria sol on a surface of a carrier base material and having 5-100nm average grain size and a noble metal deposited on the porous carrier. Since the ceria is highly dispersed and deposited and also a reaction with the porous carrier is suppressed, an oxygen storage effect of the ceria is improved and also a deterioration of a specific surface area of the catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is prevented.
