An electrical fuse has a fusing element (2) as short-circuit protection and a temperature-dependent resistor (7), for example an NTC sensor, which are applied using a screen-printing process, such that they are isolated from one another in DC terms, onto a carrier consisting of a ceramic material which is highly heat conductive, such that there is a defined thermal coupling between them. When the fusing element (2) is connected into a power circuit and is heated by a current load, especially by an excess current load, a heat flow to the resistor (7) occurs because of the thermal coupling, which resistor is correspondingly heated and whose resistance value is thus reduced as a specific function of the current load acting on the fusing element (2). If, for example, the resistor (7) is connected in a control circuit, this resistance reduction can be used to carry out a large number of additional functions, for which purpose predetermined operating points are assigned to the resistor (7). <IMAGE>
