The method for using a video index search system as a video address search system comprises the steps of: sequentially recording a video index search signal and a serial number between each scene at a video tape; storing the serial number and the title of the contents by designating addresses to a RAM of a timer micom; displaying the serial number and the title on a screen of a monitor by using an on screen display; and calculating the difference between the serial number of the present position and a desired scene number, if the difference value is a positive number, performing a fast forwarding and if the difference values is a negative number, performing a rewinding.
