PURPOSE:To certainly apply a proper amount of a size to the cut end of wood, by providing a size supply control film made of a fibrous material to the peripheral surface of a sizing roller under tension so as to provide a slight distance from said roller. CONSTITUTION:A sizing roller 5 is provided so as to immerse a part of the lower part thereof in the size 9 within a container 7 and a size supply control film 8 made of a knitted product such as nylon stockings is arranged to said sizing roller 5 so as to provide a distance (d) of about 3-5mm. from the peripheral surface thereof. By this mechanism, a proper amount of the size is allowed to sufficiently impregnate the cut end surface being a porous surface of wood.
