PURPOSE:To improve the recording and reproducing sensitivity in vertical magnetic recording by forming a magnetic head into the construction in which exciting coils are installed on both sides of the main magnetic pole of the head core consisting of a thin soft magnetic material and controlling the magnetic anisotropy to apply a bias magnetic field to the thin soft magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:An exciting coil 6 is installed on both sides of a main magnetic pole 3 of a single magnetic pole magnetic head of the type to detect the excitation of an auxiliary magnetic pole for vertical magnetic recording having a head core consisting of a thin soft magnetic film. A thin soft magnetic film 4 of the main magnetic pole is constituted by forming a thin film of CoZrNb by an RF sputtering method on a ceramic base plate, then subjecting the film to pattern etching. An auxiliary magnetic pole 1 consisting of Mn-Zn ferrite. The number of turns of a coil 5 is made 40. The frequency characteristic of the magnetic permeability of such magnetic head is as shown by the solid line 1 of the graph and is slightly inferior in the low frequency side as compared to the conventional solid line 2 but even if the frequency increases, the magnetic permeability does not deteriorate. The noise of Barkhausen type is observed near the coercive force with respect to B-H (B is magnetic flux density and H is a magnetic field) in the prior art but in this embodiment the smooth curve is obtd. |
