The converter consists of a cylinder (110b) closed at one end (111a) and containing a sliding piston (120) which is attached to the cylinder by a deformable membrane (130) to form variable-volume chambers (111,112). The first, or working chamber (111) is fed with water under pressure in alternating feed and return cycles, while the second, or guide chamber (112) controls the reciprocating motion of the piston. The working chamber is connected to the mains water supply by a single pipe (111b), while the piston is subject to a return force by a spring (F). The water flow is controlled by a three-way valve (140) which is operated manually to let water into or out of the working chamber.
