<p>PURPOSE:To improve the heat diffusing characteristic of a pasty heat insulating material to be used for welding, etc. by incorporating a material having the m.p. lower than the b.p. of water into the pasty heat insulating material. CONSTITUTION:The pasty heat insulating material to be used in a weld zone or near the weld zone is formed by using 75% hydrous bentonite as a base material and adding about 25% material having <=100 deg.C m.p. (H4P2O7, Na2HOP3 5H2O, etc.) therein. About 5% graphite or carbon fibers may be added thereto in place of the above-mentioned material. The deformation of base metals is considerably decreased by using such heat insulating material to make welding or melt cutting.</p> |
