PURPOSE:To reduce the number of storage cells by processing simultaneously the n-number of planes out of n<2>-number of planes when they are read out. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is equipped with a storage means where the access unit of a data in which the word width of each plane is set as a picture element of 2<k+j> as a whole becomes n<2>X2<k+j>, data rearranging means 2, 3, 6, and 7, and an address conversion means 5. After a prescribed rearrangement against each group of original images is performed, in each block within the group of the original images, each of units and planes is allotted so as to correspond one to one to the n<2>-number of planes which sets 2<k> bits possible to be given independently by an address in the storage means 4 as one word, and is stored by every 2<k> picture element unit in a line or row direction, and when it is read out from the storage means 4, the n-number of planes within n<2>- number of planes are processed simultaneously, and the word width in a process can be expanded in n-folds. Thereby, the usage number of memory cells can be reduced to one n-th.
