Opening section for motor road crash barrier, designed to provide emergency access

The opening section consists of a hollow member (1) forming a part of the crash barrier (2), and an adjacent sliding member (5) which can be moved telescopically inside it. When the opening section is closed it is connected rigidly by fixings to two adjacent fixed members of the crash barrier. The crash barrier rail and the sliding member can have a C-shaped cross-section, or they can be rectangular or oval in section, and the fixings can be in the form of pegs inserted through aligned holes.
