The invention relates to a sliding bearing 10 for a hydrostatic machine 1, the bearing 10 comprising two bearing members which are made from metal or other high-strength material and which are formed as a rotor member 3 and a control plate member 9, a surface, preferably of the rotor member, being provided with a sliding layer made of tin with the control plate member having a hardened contact surface. The tin is preferably on a base of steel or spheroiclal graphite cast iron. The control plate may be of bronze. The tin is applied by galvanizing.
