Method of manufacturing a shaped glass pane, in particular a car window, by the steps: forming a glass piece with a shape which includes the shape of the glass pane and separating the glass piece into at least two parts which are designated as first part and second part, the second part having shaped circumferential regions and a configuration corresponding to the shape and configuration of the corresponding circumferential regions of the shaped glass pane and an opening, and the first part being insertable into the opening of the first, outer part in order to form a shaped glass pane with a contour which has no other significant local changes than those at the place of contact of the parts.
