Method of performance testing and calibration of carbon monoxide (CO) analysers

A method for performance testing and calibration of carbon monoxide (CO) analysers, in which a test gas mixture having an appropriately prescribed concentration of carbon monoxide (CO) is passed through the analyser, can be realised without the use of CO gas cylinders (bottles) which is expensive and difficult in terms of handling and storage, by generating carbon monoxide (CO) or a gas containing carbon monoxide (CO) directly before the performance testing and calibration of the analyser, by passing an inert gas, in particular molecular nitrogen, or a gas mixture containing molecular nitrogen and oxygen, in particular synthetic air, through a mixing zone and metering the just generated carbon monoxide (CO) or the gas containing carbon monoxide (CO) in the mixing zone in an exactly determined amount into the gas mixture and by introducing the gas mixture leaving the mixing zone into the analyser as test gas mixture.
