PURPOSE:To realize both simplification of a device and servo control and acceleration in data transfer speed and access speed by comprising part of plural optical heads movable and another optical heads fixed. CONSTITUTION:Some optical heads 12 out of the plural optical heads 11 and 12 are comprised in such a way that they are loaded on a head carriage 5 and can be moved in the radius direction of an optical disk 1, and another one or plural optical heads 11 are fixed on a chassis confronting with the recording area of the optical disk 1, and are comprised so that their optical spots can be moved in the radius direction of the optical disk with a tracking means 17 provided at an optical head system. Therefore, the recording area where tracking can be performed with the fixed head 11 can be used as an intermediate buffer memory. Also, no head carriage 5 and course servo circuit for applying the servo control on the head carriage 5 are required for the fixed head 11. Thereby, an optical disk device inexpensive and miniaturized with high speed performance can be obtained. |
