PURPOSE:To connect thermoplastic resin pipes on a straight line using a conventional pipe positioning jig by providing a pair of pipe grasping members to the pipe positioning jig and holding the pipes on both sides thereof by holding jigs having a circular arc cross section and having holding surfaces longer than the width of the pipe grasping members and fixing them from above by the pipe grasping members. CONSTITUTION:The ring-shaped members of the pipe grasping members 4 of a pipe positioning jig are divided into fixed ring-shaped members 41 and movable ring-shaped members 42 and press pieces 44, 45 are provided to the other ends of the pipe grasping members 4. The movable ring-shaped members 42 are rotated upwardly centering around rotary shafts 43 to expand the distances between the press pieces 44, 45 and, after pipes are inserted in the pipe grasping members, the distances between the press pieces is narrowed and the press pieces are fixed by screws 46. The pipes are held on both sides thereof by holding jigs 5. The holding jigs 5 have a circular arc cross section along the outer peripheral surfaces of the pipes and have holding surfaces 51 longer than the width of the fixed and movable ring-shaped members 41, 42 of the pipe grasping members 4. At the time of connection, the end parts of two pipes are respectively inserted in the receiving ports of both ends of a pipe joint and the holding surfaces of the holding jigs are moved along the outer peripheral surfaces to hold the outer peripheral surfaces of the pipes 5 on both sides thereof by the holding jigs 5 and the pipes are grasped through the holding jigs 5 by the pipe grasping members 4. |
