The device comprises a casing (12) which has a translucid surface (13) behind which is positioned an infrared detector. The casing has also an opening (14) for an internal lowdspeaker. A disk (10) in the plane of the front face of the casing may turn about an axis perpendicular to the plane and passing through its centre. The visible face of the disk comprises a pattern (11) of a colour contrasting the colour of the disk, for example black on white or vice-versa. If the infrared detector signals the presence of a heat source such as the heat released by the body of a bird on a surface to be protected, a dissuasion system for birds is activated which combines the rotation of the disk and the generation of sounds. The rotation of the disk creates the illusion of the presence of a predator eye, by formation of concentric rings whose colour (for example white, grey, black...), radius and intensity vary as a function of the rotation speed. The sound generation includes cries of birds in distress, or those of a feared predator.
