PURPOSE:To make a container sufficiently deformed when an instrument panel impact is applied to the container, and make the instrument panel impact effectively absorbed by providing an inner panel member which encloses an inflator, and is high in strength, in the inside of the retainer, and installing the rear end of the air bag onto the inner member. CONSTITUTION:An air bag 14 is housed in the inside of a container 12 with the air bag folded up, and an inner member 26 is provided in such a way that an inflator 18 is enclosed. The inner member is made high in strength and stiffness. A gas introducing port is opened at the rear section of the air bag 14, flaps 42 and 42 are provided along its longer side, flaps 44 and 44 are provided along its shorter side p plates 50 and 54 are attached to them respectively, and are fixed with rivets 52 and 58. Thus, the air bag 14 is connected to the inner member 26, and the container 12 is thereby made completely free of impact due to the development of the air bag. By this constitution, the container 12 is made weak in constitution, when an instrument panel impact is applied thereto, it can thereby be sufficiently absorbed. |
