<p>A feed supplement for a monogastric animal includes about 10 % to 30 % by weight of a gluconeogenic compound which is selected from the group consisting of propionic acid, propionic acid esters, propionic acid salts, propyl esters, propyl alcohol, alanine, aspartate, glutamate, serine, lactose, lactate, glycerol, pyruvate, glutamine and mixtures thereof; from about 0 % to 5 % by weight of propylene glycol, from about 20 % to 60 % by weight of a fatty acid, and the balance of said supplement being a compatible filler. The feed supplement is administered in an effective amount to maintain or enhance the energy balance in the animal.</p> |
