Sealing cap for a liquid container, comprising a cover part (4) having an opening (10) and a substantially flat inner side, and a sealing member (11, 61, 71) which is made of elastic material, is arranged against the inner side and has a slit (14) opposite the opening (10), such that the cap is suitable for sealing an opening (22) in a container (20) and such that if the pressure inside the container (20) exceeds a maximum pressure with respect to the pressure outside the container, the slit (14) opens in a direction away from the container opening (22).
