The valve has a valve casing (2) with a gas inlet (3), a gas outlet (4) and a valve space (5) with a valve seat (6) and a valve chamber (7). A closure element (9) is provided on the valve seat, which separates the valve space from the valve chamber. An electric drive (12) actuates the closure element. The drive is connected to a control device (17). The valve has a closed circuit, to adjust the position of the closure element with respect to the valve seat according to a predetermined value. The valve also has an arrangement for detecting a first electric signal provided by the drive when it moves and a further arrangement to form a second signal when the drive is not moving. A comparator (22) forms a difference signal from the first and second signals. The difference signal is delivered to the closed circuit.
