PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress welding failure of a reinforcing plate or a sealing plate to improve productivity, by forming a cross section of a battery in a flat ellipse shape or a square shape, storing an electrode plate group formed by winding a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate through a separator in a battery case, providing a tilting portion on a battery case sealing portion side at the separator end placed on the outmost periphery of the electrode plate group, and sealing the battery case. SOLUTION: A tilting portion 9 is provided in a state that a part of a case sealing portion side at the end of a separator 8 of a flat winding electrode plate group 7 is cut off tiltingly. Thus, when a part of only separator formed at a winding axis directional end of the winding electrode plate group is thermally deformed to cover a electrode plate, outward opening part such as turning over of the separator is eliminated. When the electrode plate group is inserted into a battery case and then a reinforcing plate or a sealing plate is welded, the separator is not required to be interposed between the battery case and the reinforcing plate or the sealing plate, welding failures are suppressed to improve productivity. Preferably, this battery is a battery formed by covering the end on the sealing portion side of the electrode plate group with a thin film in a bag shape.
