PROCESS FOR CONTROLLING A PISTON ENGINE SO AS TO REMAIN WITHIN ACCEPTABLE WORKING LIMITS

A process is disclosed for controlling a piston engine so as to remain within acceptable working limits. A measured value that is influenced by the conversion of fuel into energy and/or exhaust fumes is sensed in at least one cylinder during at least one working cycle and is correlated with the sensed and stored measured value of at least one previous working cycle. When a deviation is detected, a measurement and/or setting signal is generated and supplied to the engine control system. This process allows the control of an internal combustion engine, for example with exhaust fume feedback, to be designed so that the engine works without trouble near its working limits in the corresponding load range.
