PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus constituted so that a paper feed means is arranged on the lateral side of an image forming unit and an image carrier is spaced apart from other constitution. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus has the image forming unit 50, which has the image carrier 51, an ink supply means 53 for supplying ink to the image carrier 51 and a transfer object 54 to which the image on the image carrier 51 is transferred, the paper feed means arranged on the lateral side of the image forming unit 50 to feed printing paper to the transfer object 54, contact and separation means 117, 118, 119, 120, 121 for bringing the image carrier 51 and the ink supply means 53 to a contact state and separating both of them from each other and contact and separation means 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116 for bringing the image carrier 51 and the transfer object 54 to a contact state and separating them from each other. |
