PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To swiftly interrupt a current of a battery even if the current is small, and also to interrupt the current when the battery is fully charged. SOLUTION: A breaker 2 is provided with a heat-resistive interrupting member 5 which is changed-over to an off-state, when temperature becomes higher than a set value, a heating resistor element 6 for heating this interrupting member 5, and a caser 7 in which these heating element 6 and interrupting member 5 are built-in. The heating element 6 is built-in the case 7, so as to be thermally coupled to the interrupting member 5. From the case 7 to its outside, a pair of contact lead terminals 9 connected to fixed contacts 15, which are connected to or disconnected from the interrupting member 5, and one or two control lead terminals 12 for causing a current to flow in the heating element 6 to heat the heating element 6, are led out. The interrupting member 5 is heated with the heating element 6 heated by causing the current to flow into the lead terminals 12 led outside the case 7, to heat the heating element 6, and the member 5 is changed-over to an off-state.
