PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium that can reduce cross write caused by the thermal interference of the adjacent track by providing a region which maintains amorphous state regardless of write and erase between the tracks of a phase change recording optical recording medium in the method to overcome the cross write problem caused by the thermal interference when making high density recording on a phase change recording optical recording medium. SOLUTION: The constitution in this invention is featured in that the optical recording medium has a guard band region between recording tracks to maintain amorphous state in a phase change recording optical recording medium that utilizes the change in crystalline structure.
