PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread cutter capable of preventing rupture of a thread cutting medium. SOLUTION: This thread cutter has heating elements 11a, 21a, and 31a having a heating part heated by an electric current supplied from a power source, a heating element holding member 11 having integrally or separately the heating elements, and a moving means 6 for moving thread 7a or the heating elements in the mutually abutting direction of both, and cuts the thread by heat of the heating elements, and has switch means 11b and 11c for allowing the electric current to flow to the heating elements by engaging the heating elements with the thread.
