PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule type ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus having a small, simple capsule body improvable in built-in property and capable of excellently transmitting echo signals and motor rotating position signals. SOLUTION: The capsule type ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 1 comprises the capsule body 2 introducible into the body, and an ultrasonic observation apparatus 3. The capsule body 2 has an ultrasonic vibrator 21 transmitting ultrasonic pulse to biological tissue and receiving ultrasonic pulse reflected from the biological tissue, to acquire the echo signal, a motor part 44 for rotating the ultrasonic vibrator 21, and an encoder 46 composed of a magnetic drum 43 for an encoder serving as a coupling, and a magnetic sensor 45 used as a rotating position detecting part for detecting the rotating position of the motor part 44, wherein an encoder signal from the encoder 46 is transmitted superimposed on the echo signal acquired by the ultrasonic vibrator 21. The ultrasonic observation apparatus 3 receives a superimposed signal transmitted from the capsule body 2 and carries out signal processing of the received superimposed signal to form an ultrasonic tomographic image.
