PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for electroless plating which are excellent in terms of the cost, and capable of ensuring excellent conductivity, and to provide an electroless plating method using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst for electroless plating contains alloy nano-particles consisting of metals M<SB>1</SB>and M<SB>2</SB>, wherein the metal M<SB>1</SB>is Ag, and the metal M<SB>2</SB>is one or two or more selected from a group consisting of Pd, Pt, Rh, Bi, Ru, Ni, Sn and Au.
