PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clothes dryer capable of selectively using a drying operation or a cooling operation with a heat-pump by a simple structure, and to improve the work efficiency in inspection, maintenance and replacement of a blower when the blower for the cooling operation should fail. SOLUTION: Air in a rotary tub (a drying chamber) 3 is circulated through an air channel 39 in which an evaporator 42 and a condenser 43 of the heat-pump 46 are disposed, to dry the clothes. An air outlet 53 leading to the outside of the dryer from the air channel 39 is opened by a switching damper (an air channel selecting device) 55, so that air outside the air channel 39 from an intake 57 provided in the air channel 39 is emitted to the outside from the air outlet 53 through the evaporator 42 by the blower 65.
