PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device for shortening the lighting time of an LED by turning off an unnecessary LED so as to suppress its power consumption, minimizing a deterioration of the LED, and elongating the service life of the LED. SOLUTION: The image reading device is equipped with a light source unit 3, which is provided with an LED array 32 where LEDs 31 are arranged in an array and radiates light rays, and a CPU 11 which controls the lighting of the LEDs 31. The CPU 11 controls the lighting of the LEDs 31 so as to intermittently light the LEDs 31, selectively at pre-scanning. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
