PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball receiving unit which enables the positive detection of dishonest actions, and a pinball game machine. SOLUTION: The first and second starter slots 53 and 52 which enable the entry of respective game balls and a board 51 where the first and second starter slots 53 and 52 are disposed are formed with the same member to form the ball receiving unit 5. The second starter slot 52 is provided with a housing part 522 for housing a sensor body 71. A hole 521 is formed in the housing part 522 and the sensor body 71 has a ball entry detector 711 and a magnetic sensor 712. Thus, the arrangement of the magnetic sensor 712 on the ball receiving unit 5 enables the positive detection of dishonest actions committed using a magnet, thereby accomplishing required countermeasures to be taken thereafter.
