METHOD FOR INSTALLING AN AUXILIARY UNIT ON A COMPUTER

The method involves carrying out an installation of an operation route that is required for operating an auxiliary unit. The operation routine is initially transferred by the auxiliary unit when the auxiliary unit is not available in a computer. A setting process is installed on the computer for detecting whether a required operation routine is transmitted. The setting process verifies whether the characteristic information transmitted by the auxiliary unit is stored in the computer during access of the auxiliary unit. An independent claim is also included for a portable data carrier for executing a method for installing an auxiliary unit in a computer.
