Process and apparatus for preparing pomegranate extracts

Ellagitannins are extracted from whole pomegranate fruit, by carrying out extraction of said product at a temperature within the range of 4°C to 30°C and at a pH within the range of 3.5 to 5.0, with a following purification step on adsorption resins and elution with basic solution.
A claim is directed to an ellagitannin containing product having a punicalagin content of at least 0.5%.
