<p>The device has an electric motor (1) assembled with a ball screw (2) for rapidly displacing plates (3) that are provided in contact with a brake disk (4) or a brake drum. A magnetostrictive actuator (5) i.e. fixed magnetic circuit, creates a locking force on the plates against the disk or the drum. The actuator has a thin rectangular sectioned winding assembled on a support i.e. core (5a), where the core acts as a guide, and the winding is made of magnetic material such as cobalt and iron alloy and Terfenol-D. The material is magnetized by an electromagnet (11) and a permanent magnet.</p> |
