PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly switch distribution from a trial version to a legitimate version and prevent illegitimate copy of provided content in a download system of content by a vending machine. SOLUTION: In a content distributing system, the vending machine 2 provides a trial version optical disk 3 which records a number of copies (i=3) for displaying content with a predetermined amount of deterioration. Optical disk devices 7 and 8 play back the content of the trial version optical disk and display the played back content with a quality deteriorated according to the number of copies. When the content is copied and recorded to another optical disk, the number of copies of the content is updated and recorded. Further, when the trial version optical disk 3 is switched to a legitimate version optical disk 3', the number of copies (i=3) recorded in the trial version optical disk is changed to the number of copies (i=0) for displaying the content without being deteriorated.
