Disclosed is a method for checking language settings of a television, comprising: acquiring an IP address of a television access network, and obtaining current geographic position information of a television corresponding to the IP address of the television access network; obtaining language information corresponding to the current geographic position information of the television according to the current geographic position information of the television; receiving language setting information input by a user; and when the language information corresponding to the current geographic position information of the television is inconsistent with language information set by the user, generating prompt information.
