A traffic control method, device and system and a trace collection entity. The traffic control method is applied to a network element connected to a trace collection entity (TCE). The method comprises: collecting current load information of a network element; and reporting the current load information of the network element to a trace collection entity (TCE), so that the TCE adopts a corresponding trace policy on the network element according to the current load information of the network element. In the technical solution of the present invention, when overload occurs in a related network element, the TCE can adaptively adjust the current traffic control policy and therefore the network quality and the normal operation of the network element can be guaranteed.
