PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine that can suppress a decline in purification performance of an exhaust purification catalyst even when a component of a chemical heat storage device is deteriorated.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device includes an exhaust purification catalyst 3, a chemical heat storage device 10, detection devices 43, 44 and a control device 30. The chemical heat storage device includes: a heater section 11 having a reaction material 21 that reacts with a reaction medium to generate heat and heats the exhaust purification catalyst when generating heat; a storage section 12 having an adsorbing material for adsorbing the reaction medium; and an on-off valve 14 disposed in a communication passage. The detection device detects pressure in the storage section or a temperature in the heater section. The control section calculates a deterioration degree of the chemical heat storage device on the basis of change speed of the pressure in the storage section or the temperature in the heater section when the on-off valve is opened, and controls a temperature of exhaust gas so that the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from an engine body increases as the calculated deterioration degree increases.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
