PURPOSE:To automatically erase a black band image formed in the central part of a document such as a book document, provide a satisfactory copy image, and make the copying work more efficient. CONSTITUTION:An image forming device has a document size detector 206 for detecting the size of a document to be read; an ADS 203 for detecting the density of the document; an eraser 208 for erasing an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor; and a CPU 201 for determining the central part of the document from the size of the document detected by the document size detector 206, recognizing the central part as a black band width when the document density from the ADS 203 corresponding to the central part is higher than a predetermined value, and erasing the black band width by the eraser 208. |
