A steam iron comprises an electric heating element 3 and a steam generating cavity 5 in the sole plate 1, the latter being covered by a plate 7 and connected through discharge parts 6 to the ironing surface. A water reservoir 12 is mounted upon the plate 7 by means of a steam dome 16 arranged over the cavity 5 and engaging in an opening 21 of the reservoir 12 and is retained in position by a spring wire member 25 with diverging legs 27, 28. One end 26 of wire 25 engages under the head of a bolt 9, the legs 28 engage under clips 32 on plate 7 and the intermediate portions 30 engage flange 15 of reservoir 12, sealing gaskets 20 and 24 being provided below and above the dome 16. The dome 16 houses a liquid orifice 17, a pressure regulator 18 and a pressure balance tube 19. |
