Potassium nitrate is produced by precipitation from a solution of Ca(NO3)2 and KCl cooled to, e.g. - 10 to - 20 DEG C., the mother liquor (I) is concentrated by evaporation and KNO3.CaCl2.2H2O is precipitated therefrom by cooling to 20 to 25 DEG C., separated from mother liquor II and returned to the first step of the process. CaCl2.6H2O may be separated out by further cooling liquor II to, e.g. - 5 DEG to - 15 DEG C. The remaining liquor, III, is returned either to the first step or to liquor I before or after evaporation. |
