A conductive roller 22 carries raised image areas for applying an electrostatic charge image to a dielectric medium by contact or near juxtaposition. The material passes between roller 22 and a conductive backing roller 24 and is maintained in contact with the latter by ridges 34. These may be of conductive material to leave a trace of electrostatic charge or, if a trace is not required, of insulating material. The rollers are journalled in insulating blocks 20 and their axles 28 are connected to a D. C. or pulsed source of electrical supply. The apparatus may be run in conjunction with conventional apparatus for development of the electrostatic image. |
