A mixing apparatus for the removal of gases and/or the brining of gases into contact with powdered, paste or liquid material, e.g. the degasifying of plastics or the mixing of materials with gases to bring about reactions such as dewatering, oxidation, reduction or the like, which comprises essentially a main conveyor and degassing screw (4) ina central chamber (1b) and in separate chambers (1a) and (1c) (1d) and (1c) parallel to the central chamber which contain respectively a feed screw (2), a discharge screw (5), a recycle screw (7) and a low pressure chamber. The feed screw receives material from a feed hopper (3) via the radial channel (1f) and delivers this to the main screw (4) via the port (1g) at the other end of the separating wall between chambers (1a) and (1b). The main screw (4) delivers the material under pressure to the discharge screw (5) via channel (1h) but in so doing the material must pass the slit connecting the main channel (1b) with the reduced pressure chamber (1e), so tthat the material is thereby degassed. |
