Clutch with springs applying force to pressure plate for IC engine

The clutch has a housing (11) with a pressure plate (13) inside turning with but axially movable wrt. the housing. Two springs of split membrane type with radial tongues (28) or plate (26) type apply force to the pressure plate and can be withdrawn from it by a disengaging gear (34). There is a separating ring (35) between the unsplit circular sections (25,30) of the springs. Its size and position are chosen so that the springs act together without detrimental effect e.g. hysteresis on one another. The relationship between clutch plate contact pressure and progression of wear is determined directly from the spring characteristics.
