1,197,106. Repairing apparatus for ladle slide valves. METACON A.G. 28 June, 1968 [6 July, 1967], No. 31004/68. Heading F4B. Apparatus for use in replacing refractory blocks in a casting ladle slide valve comprises a box-like frame 2 having an upper cover 10, 10<SP>1</SP> formed with grooves 18 receiving tongues 62 of a slide element 60 adjustably supported in said frame, a centering mandrel 52 movable in a guide tube 44 by a rack and pinion 50 and a pressure mandrel 36 swingable on an arm 30 about a filler 24 into two working positions one of which coincides with the centering mandrel 52. A pouring nozzle 66 is pressed into the sleeve 64 of slide element 60 by the mandrel 36 through a pressure plate 68 until arms 70 on the latter reach the upper part of said slide element 60, whereupon a positioning nut 56 threaded on a ring member 54 is screwed into contact with said nozzle 66 to support it. A slide plate (72, Figs. 2 and 3) of substantially oval shape is then pressed into the upper part of slide element 60 by the mandrel 36 through another pressure plate (80). A pouring opening (74) lies toward one end of the slide plate (72) and coincides with an extension of the centering mandrel 52. The pressure by mandrel 36 is exerted in its other working position coinciding with the centre of the slide plate (72). The angular position of the arm 30 carrying mandrel 36 is varied by inserting a pin 40 through suitably placed holes 38, 38<SP>1</SP> and 40, 40<SP>1</SP>. The movement of slide element 60 in frame 2 is by a screw in an end wall of the latter bearing on said slide element. |
